Praise for Louise Nealon
‘Fresh, original and funny…It goes down as smoothly as a cocktail but is stronger and stranger than that suggests.’ The Irish Times, Martin Doyle Literary Editor
Mad and wonderful. I thought I was reading one thing, then discovered – several times – that I was reading a different, even better thing’ Roddy Doyle
The Book
Eighteen-year-old Debbie White lives on a dairy farm with her mother, Maeve, and her uncle, Billy. Billy sleeps out in a caravan in the garden with a bottle of whiskey and the stars overhead for company. Maeve spends her days recording her dreams, which she believes to be prophecies.
This world is Debbie’s normal. As she begins life as a university student and navigates between sophisticated new friends and home life, things start to unravel. Maeve’s eccentricity tilts into something darker, while Billy’s drinking gets worse. Debbie struggles to cope with the weirdest, most difficult parts of herself, her family and her small life.
About Our Virtual Lunches
At each lunch one compelling award-winning author talks about their book and inspirations, and then answers any questions from the Chair and guests. Previous virtual lunches have featured the award-winning Sophie Hannah, the fantastically indomitable Ruby Wax, the wise and warm Fern Britton and the prolific best seller Louise Candlish. We have welcomed guests from all over the UK as well as much further afield including Switzerland, Singapore and South Africa.
Both authors and guest have found our Virtual Lunch Hour platform (Crowdcast) so easy to use: it allows for lots of chat, questions and social interaction making these virtual events incredibly sociable and interactive. Just click on the Book Now button, pay for your place and we will send you the link.
For those of you looking for corporate entertaining opportunities, why not book several places and then meet up on zoom or a similar platform to chat about the book afterwards.
The Virtual Gliterary Lunch Hour offers special sponsorship opportunities and tailored corporate packages which can be a great way of keeping your company profile high while meeting in person is more challenging. Contact us for more information.
To book your space for this virtual Gliterary Lunch, just click the Book Now button. Once payment has been received, we will send you a registration email from Crowdcast which is the platform we use to host our virtual lunches.
Group Bookings: Please note that if you are paying for multiple places, you need to supply email addresses for all attendees. You can add them into the Customer Notes section or email them separately.
