Treat yourself to a sociable, interactive lunch hour, while an award-winning writer tells us the story behind the story. Rustle up a delicious lunch, pour yourself something sparkling and relax in great company.
ASHLEY AUDRAIN began writing The Push after leaving her job as Publicity Director at Penguin Books Canada to raise her two young children. The experience of being a new mother inspired Ashley to write about the idea of motherhood and expectations, and what happens if that experience turns out to be nothing like it’s supposed to be.
‘A poetic, propulsive read that set my nerves jangling in both horror and recognition’ LISA JEWELL, bestselling author of The Family Upstairs
But as soon as I held her in my arms I knew something wasn’t right. My husband Fox says I’m imagining it. He tells me I’m nothing like my own mother, and that Violet is the sweetest child. But she’s different with me. Something feels very wrong.
My hope is for THE PUSH to offer the kind of compulsive page-turning read that I love to find myself lost in late into the night. But most importantly, I hope for THE PUSH to create conversation. About the expectations we have of women and mothers, about the experiences we inherit from the women before us, about the weight of loneliness, and about the repercussions of silencing women’s truths….Ashley Audrain
At each lunch one compelling award-winning author talks about their book and inspirations, and then answers any questions from the Chair and guests. Previous virtual lunches have featured the award-winning Sophie Hannah, the fantastically indomitable Ruby Wax, the wise and warm Fern Britton and the prolific best seller Louise Candlish. We have welcomed guests from all over the UK as well as much further afield including Switzerland, Singapore and South Africa.
Both authors and guest have found our Virtual Lunch Hour platform (Crowdcast) so easy to use: it allows for lots of chat, questions and social interaction making these virtual events incredibly sociable and interactive. Just click on the Book Now button, pay for your place and we will send you the link.
For those of you looking for corporate entertaining opportunities, why not book several places and then meet up on zoom or a similar platform to chat about the book afterwards.
To book your space for this virtual Gliterary Lunch, just click the Book Now button. Once payment has been received, we will send you a registration email from Crowdcast which is the platform we use to host our virtual lunches.
Group Bookings: Please note that if you are paying for multiple places, you need to supply email addresses for all attendees. If you are booking on behalf of an organisation and need an invoice rather than paying by payment card, contact [email protected]
If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to call us on 07525 791454 or email [email protected]
Wonderful event – it was an absolute tonic being in the company of the author and listening to her read her own work. Thank you! Will be recommending your lunches!
